By the end of this module, students should gain proficiency in the reimbursement methods of health plans and recognize and develop competence in plan participation and payment methods. Students will further develop proficiency in a practical application through the interpretation of remittance advice and the differentiation between denied and rejected claims. Preparing students for the real-life experience of health care data delivery systems, students will engage in on-line learning, as well as lab and computer software applications. Students will become familiar with, and able to use industry related reference coding materials such as the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), International Classification of Diseases (ICD-CM), and Health Care Procedures Coding Systems (HCPCS).
