In addition to completing the BSRS coursework, candidates pursuing ARRT post-primary certification must document clinical experience in their chosen modality. This involves logging a required number of procedures performed in a clinical setting before applying to sit for the exam. Requirements vary by modality and must follow ARRT documentation guidelines.
Computed Tomography (CT)
Candidates must complete at least 125 documented procedure repetitions.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
Candidates must complete at least 125 documented procedure repetitions.
Interventional Radiography
Candidates must complete 200 documented procedures.
Mammography
Candidates must complete mammographic imaging for 75 patients.

The Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences is a degree program designed for ARRT-certified imaging professionals — or individuals who have earned an associate degree through an MRI program — who want to continue their education through advanced radiologic science, healthcare leadership, and modality-specific coursework.
Yes. ACC’s BSRS program is delivered 100% online, allowing students to complete coursework remotely.
Students can earn their bachelor’s degree in radiologic sciences online in as little as 60 weeks, which is less than 15 months. The program is divided into six terms that are 10 weeks each.
The BSRS coursework is asynchronous, which means students are not required to attend live classes at specific times. Instead, coursework — including lectures, readings, and assignments — can be completed on your own schedule.
However, the program is not self-paced. Students follow a structured course schedule with set deadlines, instructor guidance, and regular academic expectations. This format is designed to offer flexibility for working professionals while maintaining academic structure and accountability.
Students complete coursework in imaging applications, cross-sectional anatomy, imaging pathology, healthcare leadership, ethics, research methods, and regulatory compliance, along with modality-specific topics.
The BSRS program includes modality-specific coursework related to computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), mammography, and interventional radiography (IR). Students are required to log a set number of exams in their chosen modality in order to be considered for ARRT post-primary exam eligibility.
Courses include general education courses for healthcare leadership, finance, and compliance to name a few. Radiography specific courses for CT, MRI, IR, and Mammography.
Graduates can pursue various career paths, including computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), interventional radiography (IR), and mammography (M). A bachelor’s degree can also support professional growth within radiology departments, including opportunities to take on leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
The answer is no because there are ARRT required competencies to be completed for the Diagnostic Radiography (R) and the BSRS program is not a primary pathway to obtain certification in Radiography.
The BSRS completion program is designed to advance your education, not replace the foundational clinical and didactic requirements of an accredited Radiography program.
To be eligible for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Radiography (R) exam, students must complete an ARRT approved accredited Radiography program that includes required clinical competencies specific to radiography.
If your background is in MRI only, additional coursework and clinical training in radiography would be required to qualify for the (R) exam.
Students are required to have ARRT certification to enroll in the program.
The ARRT requires the following:

There are no clinical terms and if they are already a licensed MRI technologist then they wouldn't need to do competencies.
Yes, financial aid and scholarships are available for those who qualify. An ACC Financial Aid Advisor can assist you in identifying options to help fund your education.
With a fully online format and focused radiologic science coursework, the BSRS program is designed to support continued learning for imaging professionals.
You've completed your education, passed national certification, earned state licensure, and built real-world clinical experience. Earning a more advanced degree can help you take advantage of specialized career opportunities. It can also position you to meet evolving needs within the healthcare landscape.
