Career Training Objective

Program Objective: The BSRS program is to offer licensed imaging professionals a foundational education for advancement into a choice of career opportunities. This extends further to support the growth of the radiography profession and the development of lifelong learning. The program supports the mission, philosophy, values, ethics, and goals professed by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT).

Program Vision

The BSRS program is delivered online to meet the needs of our students. Highly qualified faculty work within the healthcare field, engage in scholarship and research, continue professional development, and serve their communities. The vision of the BSRS program is to become a leading health administration program locally by providing the highest student-centric education and high-value service to the community in which we serve. The Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences degree includes general education coursework designed to support the development of communication, analytical reasoning, cultural awareness, and scientific inquiry skills appropriate for baccalaureate-level education.

Baccalaureate Degree Completion Structure

The Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences (BSRS) program is a baccalaureate degree completion program designed for licensed imaging professionals who have previously completed an Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology or a related imaging discipline from an accredited institution. Students entering the program must possess the foundational academic preparation and clinical training necessary to build upon their professional education.

The Bachelor of Science degree requires completion of a minimum of 194 quarter credits. Students admitted to the BSRS program may transfer up to 122 quarter credits earned through their previously completed associate degree and related coursework. The remaining 72 quarter credits are completed through the BSRS curriculum at American Career College. These upper-division courses focus on advanced imaging knowledge, healthcare systems, leadership, research methodology, and professional development.

Transfer credit from the previously completed associate degree must include foundational radiologic science coursework and general education coursework consistent with institutional degree requirements.

Program Learning Outcomes:

  1. Enthusiastically display leadership responsibilities while providing competent imaging skills in the healthcare community.
  2. Demonstrate mastery of advanced imaging knowledge to have a successful result on the post-primary ARRT certification exams.
  3. Demonstrate problem-solving and critical thinking skills for job-related functions.
  4. Apply skills learned to enhance the workplace and the evolving role of the radiologic technologist within the healthcare profession.
  5. Demonstrate effective communication skills with patients and ancillary medical professionals.
  6. Support the employment demands of the medical healthcare community.
