Accreditation, Approvals and Memberships

Accreditation is the recognition that an institution maintains the standards required to achieve the credentials for professional practice. It is the status granted to an institution that meets or exceeds specific criteria of educational quality as defined by the accrediting agency.

The goal of accreditation is to ensure that the education provided by institutions of higher education meets acceptable levels of quality. College accreditation can be an important factor–both for students selecting a college, and for employers deciding which graduates to hire. American Career College (ACC) is institutionally accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).

The College voluntarily undergoes periodic accrediting evaluations by teams of qualified examiners including subject matter experts in occupational education and private postsecondary school administration.

• The Respiratory Therapy (Associate of Occupational Science) program (#200657) at the Los Angeles holds Provisional Accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (www.coarc.com). This status signifies that a program with an Approval of Intent has demonstrated sufficient compliance with the Standards (through submission of an acceptable Provisional Accreditation Self Study Report (PSSR) and any other documentation required by the CoARC, as well as satisfactory completion of an initial on-site visit), to be allowed to admit students. It is recognized as an accredited program by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), which provides enrolled students who complete the program with eligibility for the Respiratory Care Credentialing Examination(s). The program will remain on Provisional Accreditation until it achieves Continuing Accreditation.
• The Physical Therapist Assistant Program in Orange County and Ontario is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), (CAPTE 3030 Potomac Ave., Suite 100, Alexandria, Virginia 22305-3085; Phone: 703-706-3245; Email: accreditation@apta.org; Website: www.capteonline.org).
