General Attendance Requirements

• Attendance is recorded for all programs and is tracked by minutes in the scheduled lecture, lab or externship/clinical session. This includes absence from the entire session, late arrival (tardy), and early departure. Students must be present for at least 50% of the daily scheduled class hours to be considered present for the day. 
• Students absent for 10% of any module or course will receive a verbal warning.
• Students absent for 20% of any module or course will receive a written warning and verbal advisement.
• Students absent for 30% or more of any module or course will fail that module or course and will be required to repeat the module or course in its entirety.
• Students absent for 14 consecutive calendar days will be dropped from the program.
• Students must complete all required hours for externship modules or clinical courses to meet graduation requirements.
• Students are not permitted to make up absences in the lecture or laboratory portion of their program, with the exception of those enrolled in Vocational Nursing and Dental Assisting programs as required by State regulation.
• Regardless of program, students are responsible for make-up work and assignments.

Religious Observance Policy

American Career College recognizes that students may need to observe religious holy days that require an absence from class, laboratory, or clinical/Externship experiences. Students must submit the Religious Observance Absence Request Form to Student Services at least one (1) week in advance and must also notify their faculty and Program Director.

Faculty are expected to accommodate these requests when proper notice is provided. Students will be given the opportunity to make up missed work and are responsible for managing any time or coursework lost due to religious observance.

At the beginning of each term/module, students should review course syllabi to identify potential conflicts with religious observances. This policy applies only to recognized holy days observed by an entire faith tradition. It does not apply to specific church holidays, festivals, weekly meetings, or church camps.
