Nearly 60 students and their loved ones gathered in the American Career College-Ontario atrium this November to celebrate the joint ceremony of the weekday and evening/weekend vocational nursing cohorts.
Latoya Franklin, ACC-Ontario’s director of nursing, issued a warm welcome to begin the ceremony and VN instructor Alice Quesada led the students in reciting the customary Florence Nightingale nursing pledge.
Janetta Lavell and Annmarie Juarez delivered reflections from a student perspective, with one graduate representing each of the two cohorts. The graduating students received their pins from a favorite ACC instructor or beloved friend or family member.
“This tradition symbolizes the relay of experiences from the established nurse to the novice nurse,” ACC-Ontario nursing assistant director Dameka Montgomery said.
