World Blood Donor Day drew more than interest from American Career College students this June.
With help from LifeStream Blood Bank, ACC students on two campuses donated more than 125 units of blood during a two-day campaign to help keep a ready supply on hand. The World Health Organization has deemed June 14 as World Blood Donor Day in order to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products.
At ACC-Los Angeles, the day yielded 58 units from 74 potential donors — 70 of them first-time donors. ACC-Orange County’s blood drive registered 94 potential donors and 75 units of blood collected between the morning and afternoon sessions.
As an added perk, the first 85 donors received a $5 In-N-Out gift card and all contributors were eligible to win a pair of Disneyland Park Hopper tickets.
