Staff, faculty and student ambassadors from American Career College-Los Angeles took time for their mental health this May with a Zen Day and an off-campus hike.
On May 13, a group from ACC-Los Angeles and some canine companions met at Griffith Park for a mental health hike in the Santa Monica Mountains to stretch their legs and talk during the walk. On May 17, ACC-LA held a "Zen Day," where students took a few minutes out of class to have some tea, color, meditate or do a puzzle. Faculty and staff were even treated to chair massages.
"ACC knows how important mental health awareness is, so anything we can do to help our students escape the daily struggles of school and other life struggles, we are here to help," ACC-LA academic retention specialist Brenda Clydesdale said. "Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices."
