A trio of physical therapist assistant students from American Career College helped decorate the American Physical Therapy Association’s award-winning float in this year’s Rose Parade.
ACC-Orange County PTA students Jenesa Valren, Janae Jones and Charles Pascual all volunteered time on the physical therapy float, which celebrated the diversity of individuals served by PTs and PTAs, the diversity of the profession, and the 100-year history of APTA. For their efforts, the three got to enjoy the sweet smell of success when the California Physical Therapy Association’s float won the Grand Marshal Trophy.
The float itself featured three figures in motion — a competitive athlete with a prosthesis, an older female jogger out for a run, and a young person doing a wheelie in her wheelchair. Like all entries in the Rose Parade, the float was covered in natural materials including statice, cranberry seed, ground coconut and lentils.
