Jessica Marquez thought she had chosen the right career path when life took a different turn. In the span of three months, both of her parents fell ill and she cared for them. That's when she caught the healthcare bug.
"I had zero background in healthcare when my parents got sick," she said. "But I figured if I could take care of both my parents at the same time, I could do this for somebody else and make a difference."
Marquez began looking for accredited schools with respiratory therapy programs and decided that American Career College-Ontario was her perfect fit. She was excited to begin a new career where her actions helped save lives.
"RT is just so exciting and interesting," she said. "Nobody knows we're there to help save people's lives. We're kind of like ninjas because we'll come in during a "Code Blue" right there at the head of the bed and we slip right out again."
Now as a graduate of ACC-Ontario, Marquez is ready to begin working in critical adult care, ready to help and respond at any moment.
