After three decades in accounting, Maureen is done waiting to follow her goal of working in health care.
Originally Maureen had gone to college to be a nurse but was diagnosed with nerve damage in her lower back after completing her junior year. Unable to do most of the physical demands of nursing, she switched to studying accounting and eventually earned an MBA. This May, Maureen graduated from American Career College-Los Angeles and was named her program's valedictorian.
"Accounting for the past 33 years has been more of a career job, but I found that pharmacy technician is a calling," she said. "And it's a calling that I have in my heart to help and protect others."
While recently exploring part-time work options, Maureen said she spoke to three different pharmacy technicians, and all three had graduated from ACC-Los Angeles. Since completing the nine-month program, Maureen said she's happy to be the one now doing the referring.
"Coming to American Career College has been one of the proudest moments of my entire life," she said. "Wanting to be in health care really drove me 33 years later to become a pharmacy tech."
