Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to the most common questions about our nursing programs

What's the difference between the ADN and VN programs?

The ADN program is designed to prepare you to become a Registered Nurse (RN) in 20 months, while the VN program is designed to prepare you to become a Licensed Vocational Nurse in 12 months for day classes (18 months for evening & weekend schedule). RNs have broader scope of practice and typically higher earning potential, while LVNs can start working sooner and have more flexible scheduling options during training.

When do programs start and how do I apply?

Programs start multiple times throughout the year. To apply, you'll need to meet with an admissions advisor, complete your application, take entrance exams, and fulfill all admission requirements. Contact us to learn about upcoming start dates for your preferred program and schedule.

Can I work while attending the nursing program?

The ADN program is full-time and intensive, making it challenging to work full-time. The VN program offers evening and weekend options specifically designed for working students. Many students work part-time, but we recommend discussing your specific situation with an admissions advisor to plan accordingly.

How much do the programs cost and is financial aid available?

Program costs vary by campus and program. We offer various financial aid options including federal grants, loans, scholarships, and payment plans for those who qualify. Our financial aid team will work with you to explore all available options to make your education affordable.

Do I need to take prerequisite courses before starting?

The VN program has no prerequisite requirements - you can start right away! The ADN program requires six general education courses (Written Communications, College Mathematics, Introduction to Psychology, Introduction to Sociology, Oral Communication, and Cultural Pluralism) which can often be completed at ACC or transferred from other institutions.

What are the NCLEX pass rates and job placement rates?

2024 94.85% NCLEX-RN pass rate for ADN graduates and 2024 87.95% NCLEX-PN pass rate for VN graduates. We also maintain a 88% ADN job placement rate and 75% VN job placement rate, with career services support to help you launch your nursing career.

Where will I complete my clinical training?

You'll gain hands-on experience at real healthcare facilities throughout the Inland Empire region. This includes hospitals, long-term care facilities, outpatient clinics, and other healthcare settings where you'll apply your classroom learning in real-world scenarios.

Can I transfer from VN to RN later?

Yes! Many students start with our VN program to enter the workforce quickly, then return to complete their RN through our ADN program or transfer to other institutions. This pathway allows you to start earning as an VN while working toward your RN goal.
