Activities of daily living (ADL) are basic self-care tasks such as eating, bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility. The ability to perform these activities is often assessed in elderly, disabled, or otherwise impaired individuals to determine their need for support in home care or assisted living environments. Occupational therapy assistants (OTAs) play a crucial role in this process, working under the supervision of occupational therapists to help clients develop, recover, or maintain the skills needed for daily living and working.
