Before entering the Medical Assistant program at American Career College, Rudy S. was studying biology at the University of California-Riverside, using it as a stepping stone for his ultimate career goal of becoming a physician assistant. His decision to switch gears and pursue the MA program at ACC-Ontario was influenced by both practical considerations and personal experiences.
"My parents were a heavy influence,” Rudy shared. “They wanted me to help people, and they knew that being in the healthcare setting was more for me because I’ve always been someone who wanted to help people.”
This desire to serve others guided him towards healthcare, and the fast-paced, hands-on nature of the MA program at ACC-Ontario fit perfectly with his ambitions. However, it wasn’t just family encouragement that helped shape Rudy’s journey. His own life experiences also played a significant role.
Rudy’s focus and determination grew stronger after a personal tragedy — the death of a classmate — helped him realize the true importance of healthcare and the impact he could have.
“That experience really helped me focus on what I wanted to do and the kind of person I wanted to be in this field,” Rudy reflected.
This tragedy deepened his resolve to pursue a career in healthcare, motivating him to finish his training and continue with his education. Now, nearing the completion of his MA program, Rudy is excited for the next step.
“I’m almost ready to actually be in the field. Everything I’ve learned, I’m ready to apply it,” he said.
