Heather Thomas, Ph.D., OTR/L, has been named Program Director for American Career College-Orange County’s Occupational Therapy Assistant (Associate of Occupational Science) Program. She has served as the Curriculum Coordinator and Associate Professor in the Master’s of Occupational Therapy program at West Cost University since 2013.
"ACC is honored to have Heather Thomas’s expertise and leadership at the helm of our growing OTA program," Chief Operating Officer Timothy Lee said.
Thomas previously held leadership positions that include Director of Occupational Therapy at Casa Colina Centers for Rehabilitation, in addition to serving almost 10 years at Loma Linda University as an Associate Professor in the Occupational Therapy Department. She also developed a program in Haiti after the catastrophic earthquake in 2010, to train Haitians to program rehabilitation services.
"I am very excited to be joining the team at ACC and furthering the collaboration between the OT programs at WCU and ACC," Thomas said.
Thomas earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Health Sciences at Trident University International and her Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from University of Southern California. She is a licensed and active Occupational Therapist and also holds an Advance Practice Certification in Physical Agent Modalities. She is also a member of many professional organizations including American Occupational Therapy Association, Inc. (AOTA) and Occupational Therapy Association of California (OTAC).
