For more than 10 years, American Career College students have used Chino Valley Medical Center as a real-world learning location.
Chino Valley Medical Center Chief Nursing Officer John Blenkinsopp has only been at Chino Valley for about a year, but has worked with ACC students previously for the last six years. He said he appreciates the passion and attention to detail ACC students bring from the classroom to the clinical site.
“One of the things I love about ACC is they spend a lot of time on the clinical practice. I’ve toured the facilities and seen the clinical simulation labs,” Blenkinsopp said. “I can see the students out there practicing — not necessarily on a patient — but they’re practicing to get those psychomotor skills so they feel comfortable once they come to clinical setting and it’s second nature.”
ACC students in programs like vocational nursing, surgical technology and respiratory therapy have all passed through the doors of Chino Valley Medical Center. Some of them — like ACC grad and current Chino Valley Medical Center cardiopulmonary manager Bryan Stringham — decided to hang around a little while longer.
