ACC-OC Student Ambassadors Volunteer at Giving Children Hope in Buena Park

July 30, 2019

Students and staff from American Career College-Orange County volunteered this July at Giving Children Hope, a non-profit organization that provides resources to vulnerable children and families locally and abroad.

The group met at the campus and were transported to the organization's main location in Buena Park. Once there, the students and staff rolled up their sleeves and spent the next few hours helping unload and organize donations.

Christine Sanchez, Giving Children Hope's director of program and partner development, thanked the volunteers for their hard work and effort.

"Giving Children Hope has been responding to crises for the last 26 years," Sanchez said. "Being here today as a community shows that American Career College is committed to not only sharing awareness with students on where pockets of trouble are but also the bigger picture of what's going on in the world and how non-profits like us are responding to it."

With the help of local partnerships, Giving Children Hope are able to gather much needed medical resources, nutritional foods and basic needs.

ACC-Orange County medical assistant student and student ambassador Natasha Duclona said she likes to volunteer to "make a difference in other people's lives."

Fellow ACC-OC medical assistant student Breeanna Garcia echoed her sentiments.

"I really just like helping people," Garcia said. "I want them to know I’m here, everyone’s here and that we enjoy helping anyone who needs it.”
