A group of American Career College dental assisting students got a chance to work side-by-side with future dentists from the University of Southern California this January.
Led by ACC-Ontario dental assisting program director Lydia Saenz, the group helped Dr. Quynh Tran and the team of student dentists from USC treat more than 250 patients during the community health fair at Auburndale Intermediate School in Corona, California.
Saenz said she was very proud of how hard the students worked during the nine-hour shift and appreciated their professionalism and care with the patients.
"This was a great experience for the DA students, and this was the first year they allowed the students to assist the USC dentistry program," Saenz said. "Students also performed coronal polishing and fluoride treatments on all patients."
All services were provided free of cost with the support and help of the Corona-Norco Unified School District, community leaders, healthcare professionals and volunteers.
