Surrounded by family, friends, and supportive faculty, Jamie Ramos A. took a moment before he graduated from American Career College’s vocational nursing program and prepared to embark on a new chapter in his nursing career.
“It still doesn’t feel real,” he shared, noting that the past 20 months of hard work, sacrifices, and sleepless nights had finally culminated in this milestone moment at Ontario’s Toyota Arena.
Jamie's journey into nursing began over a decade ago as a hospital volunteer, where he felt a powerful calling to help others. This experience laid the foundation for his nursing career, and his time at ACC-Los Angeles has solidified his commitment to the profession. He credits ACC’s dedicated instructors and career resources for giving him the tools to succeed, including essential job placements and guidance for his next steps. The support from his program community has made all the difference, he says, helping him feel prepared to tackle his new role as a charge nurse and begin further studies toward a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
Reflecting on the experience, Jamie emphasized the importance of drive and passion for future nurses. He shared that ACC’s demanding curriculum made him mentally and emotionally resilient, preparing him for the challenges and rewards of the profession.
“If you’re thinking about nursing, just do it,” he advises. “The need for nurses is real, and ACC provides everything you need to succeed.”
