Donald Laurino, a senior theory/clinical instructor at American Career College-Lynwood, was selected recently as one of 10 nurses from across the nation to participate on a NCLEX item development panel of subject matter experts.
Laurino, who has worked at ACC-Lynwood since 2013, was approved by the California Board of Nursing and selected by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing. He was nominated on the basis of clinical specialty and nursing expertise.
Laurino received his masters of science in nursing from University of San Diego and has more than 20 years of experience in nursing education. He is a board-certified medical-surgical nurse and certified in gerontological (RN-BC), critical care (CCRN) and medical-surgical nursing (CSMRN).
"Donald has been recognized already with his master teacher honorary recognition, but this is just another acknowledgment of his significant contributions to the nursing profession and ACC,” Executive Director Lani Townsend said.
All nurses in the United States and its four U.S. territories must take the NCLEX, or National Council Of State Boards of Nursing Licensure Examination. Passing the NCLEX is one of the requirements necessary for attaining a nursing license.
The panel was held March 14-17 in Chicago.
