Don Laurino, an instructor at American Career College-St. Francis, was recently selected as the honorable mention winner for the 2016 ABHES/Elsevier Master Teacher Award.
Laurino, who has been teaching vocational nursing (VN) at ACC-St. Francis since 2013, was chosen as one of the top two finalists. He will be recognized with a certificate and his name will also appear in the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) National Conference program. He was nominated by ACC-St. Francis VN Program Director Alice Campbell.
“I am extremely honored and humbled to receive this year’s ABHES/Elsevier Master Teacher Honorable Mention," Laurino said. "The award reflects the excellence, innovation and quality of nursing education that American Career College provides to promote student success.”
The Master Teacher Award recognizes best practices in teaching in the allied health disciplines and presented by ABHES and Elsevier, a leading health sciences information provider.
"Your nomination reflects the commitment you have shown not only to bettering your students’ lives, but also to improving the quality of health care provided to patients for many years to come," Elsevier marketing manager Jennifer Rolwes said in a statement. "Although you were not selected as the award winner, your selection for honorable mention places you among the top health careers educators in the United States."
