A group of student ambassadors from American Career College spent part of their weekend this July volunteering at the Midnight Mission in downtown Los Angeles.
Led by ACC-LA Student Services specialist Brenda Clydesdale, the ambassadors helped sort and organize some of the hundreds of pieces of clothing received by the mission each day.

Anyone can volunteer to sort clothing at the Midnight Mission. They need willing and enthusiastic people to help every Saturday afternoon from 1-3 pm. Midnight Mission can be reached at (213) 624-9258.
“Sorting clothing is an unassuming yet hugely important task,” Clydesdale said. “The L.A. Mission goes the extra mile not only distributing the clothing to people in need but also checking to make sure all the clothing is clean and intact.”
Working together with mission facility staff and a few other volunteers, Clydesdale said the ACC ambassadors made a huge impact in just a few hours.
“That Saturday we sorted double the amount of clothing on a normal day,” Clydesdale said. “All boxes were completed and the garage we worked in was spotless at the end.”
Clydesdale said the staff was extremely grateful for the help and is looking forward to the next group of ACC volunteers to sign up.
“I know the ambassadors enjoyed a fulfilling afternoon, but I still want to give a big thank you to all our ACC students for showing up and an even bigger thank you to the Midnight Mission for having us,” she said.
