Frances V's path to healthcare wasn't just a choice — it was a calling. From her earliest days, she felt drawn to the field, driven by a profound desire to care for others.
"I'm a very caring person," Frances explained. "I believed that entering the healthcare field would enable me to provide the necessary services for caring for others diligently."
Frances's passion for healthcare was inspired by a personal tragedy — the loss of her aunt to colon cancer. This experience served as a catalyst, propelling Frances towards a career where she could offer compassionate care to those in need.
"When my aunt passed away, it made me realize how I should be taking care of the people that I still have in my life," Frances reflected.
Determined to make a difference, Frances embarked on her journey at American Career College, where she found not just an education, but a supportive community that helped her thrive.
“My instructors made sure I never felt alone and that I was studying the material,” Frances recalled. “They made sure I was being helped out no matter where I was.”
Frances's journey was not devoid of challenges. At times, she even contemplated returning to her family in the Philippines. However, her unwavering focus on her goals kept her moving forward.
With the support of her instructors and peers, she successfully completed the Medical Assistant program and has recently landed a position in urgent care.
"I just really like helping people,” Frances explained. “When I see them struggle, I just can't help but just want to help them."
Looking ahead, Frances dreams of becoming an RN, specializing in caring for cancer patients — an ambition fueled by her personal losses.
When asked for advice for future students, Frances emphasized the importance of perseverance.
"Even if it is a struggle to go through all these things, even if you’re nervous about entering a new field, perseverance is what will get you through it," she said, reflecting on her own journey.
