American Career College’s clinical affiliation with Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) helps provide the very best clinical experience possible for our students and future healthcare practitioners. In an effort to enhance and deepen our relationship, ACC-OC Respiratory Therapy department partnered with CHOC and the California Society of Respiratory Care (CSRC) to provide an in-service/Continuing Education Units for Law and Professional Ethics. Well over 20 students and staff were in attendance.
“Having the California Society of Respiratory Care (CSRC) and Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) partnering together with American Career College (ACC) epitomizes collaborative efforts in serving one another," RT program director Eli Cosa said. "Our goal is to guide the next generation of Respiratory Care Practitioners to be those agents changing lives and I believe our students got a glimpse of how CHOC, one of the prominent organizations in the healthcare community, is doing just that.”
ACC-OC student Vincent De Angelo said that his first visit to CHOC really impressed him and the event helped him learn a lot about being both a community member and healthcare provider.
“One of the key takeaways for me was learning the best way to handle ourselves both inside and outside of the hospital," he said. "I now have a better appreciation for my scope of practice and for the responsibility we have as a healthcare professional and future RRT. The speaker's examples drove home a lot of the key points and helped me better understand the importance of holding yourself accountable for your actions.”
