American Career College-Lynwood held its 18th pinning ceremony for the vocational nursing (VN) program on Jan. 12.
The St. Francis Medical Center auditorium was filled with 26 VN students as well as family, friends and faculty. The ceremony marks the beginning of the cohort's journey to becoming licensed vocational nurses.
"We are so proud of our candidates for taking this first step into their program," ACC-Lynwood Nursing Director Alice Campbell shared. "We are excited to see all that they accomplish during their time here."
Following the candle lighting, capping and pinning of each candidate, the VN cohort joined together to say the practical nurses pledge.
"May my life be devoted to service, and to the highest ideals of the nursing profession," the ACC VN students recited in unison.
The pledge consists of the guiding principles that each VN follows during the course of their career. By reciting the pledge the candidates are now ready to begin the clinical portion of the program, always keeping their vow in mind.
