Student Complaint/Grievance Procedure

Pre-Dispute Arbitration and Class Action Waiver Disclosure

American Career College seeks to resolve disputes or claims between any student and the school in a manner that addresses an individual student’s complaint in an efficient, cost-effective, and quicker manner than traditional litigation. A student who enrolls at American Career College agrees, as a condition of his or her enrollment, to resolve any dispute through mandatory arbitration that shall not be adjudicated as a class action or a consolidated class arbitration proceeding. However, the school cannot require a student loan borrower to participate in arbitration or any internal dispute resolution process offered by the institution prior to filing a borrower defense to repayment application with the U.S. Department of Education pursuant to 34 CFR 685.206(e); the school cannot, in any way, require students to limit, relinquish, or waive their ability to pursue filing a borrower defense claim, pursuant to 34 CFR 685.206(e) at any time; and any arbitration, required by a pre-dispute arbitration agreement, tolls the limitations period for filing a borrower defense to repayment application pursuant to 34 CFR 685.206(e)(6)(ii).

Vaccination Policies

Associate of Science in Nursing

Associate of Occupational Science, Occupational Therapy Assistant

Individuals interested in admission may be required (depending on the fieldwork site) to have the following before the first day of fieldwork:

Associate of Occupational Science, Physical Therapist Assistant

Individuals interested in admission will be required to have the following:

Associate of Occupational Science, Radiography

Radiography students have direct contact with patients and other health care workers in affiliated health care agencies. They are expected to have and maintain a satisfactory level of health, which includes freedom from chemical dependency and communicable diseases.

Prior to participation in clinical experiences, students must complete and submit the following items to the clinical director, which includes:

  1. Documentation of immune status to measles, rubella, mumps, and chickenpox (varicella) via titer or immunization. If titers are negative, the student receives a letter from the administrative director recommending consultation with a health care provider regarding immunization and stating that, in the event of exposure to the communicable disease, they are required to notify the Clinical Director immediately.
  2. Date of tetanus immunization (must be within 10 years).
  3. Dates of Hepatitis B immunization (student must receive two of the series of three immunizations prior to participation in the first practicum). If immunization series was completed more than 5 years ago, a titer is required.
  4. Results of Mantoux (TB skin test) and/or chest x-ray indicating no active disease if the TB tests result is positive.

Associate of Occupational Science, Respiratory Therapy

The clinical director will establish deadlines by which the medical information is to be submitted. Students will not be allowed to progress in the curriculum if the information is not complete and on file with the clinical director by the published deadline. Exceptions to the deadline may be made on a case by case basis. However, in no case will students be allowed to attend the first clinical rotation until all information is complete and on file.

ACC currently tests for immunity of Varicella (Chicken Pox), Hepatitis B, Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, and Rubella (German Measles). Vaccines must be up to date for Tdap, Flu and any that show non-immunity.

As a student and a potential professional in the healthcare field, you are at higher risk of contracting Hepatitis B than the general population. We recommend you seek information on the risks to help you in your decision to be vaccinated. However, you have the right to waive vaccinations.

You will be required to complete a physical examination before the first day of clinical. The school provides physical examination and vaccination on scheduled dates. If, for any reason, you miss the scheduled date(s), it is your responsibility to provide us with complete physical and vaccination records prior to the start of clinical.

Associate of Occupational Science, Surgical Technology

Clinical sites require that he/she have current health/physical screening information to ensure that he/she is free from any condition which might interfere with the performance of his/her duties or the successful completion of the clinical rotation experience.

Vocational Nursing

Health screening examinations, pathology tests (if applicable), and/or immunizations for the Vocational Nursing program are conducted on campus prior to clinical assignments.
