At the Spring Rehab Career Fair, job recruiters got to meet past, present and future students from two of American Career College's fastest-growing programs.
More than 100 students and graduates from the Occupational Therapy Assistant and Physical Therapist Assistant programs attended the fair in May, which was hosted by ACC-Orange County's Career Services. They introduced themselves to the 10 rehab organizations and 16 recruiters at the event, handed out resumes, talked about job openings and learned about industry trends.
ACC-OC Career Services director Johnny Lacey said this was the first career fair ACC had held that was exclusive to the OTA and PTA programs, and thanked Sherrie Aguilar for securing all of the employers and job seekers.
"We had 125 students and alumni attend the event," Lacey said. "At least five of the licensed grads were offered positions. Most everyone else will be offered positions upon getting licensed."
Besides the students and grads, a handful of people who had just enrolled in the OTA program also stopped by and met with the recruiters, despite not attending one class yet. Elita Beltran, ACC-OC admissions assistant director, said the new students really appreciated getting a glimpse of what could be in store for them after completing the 20-month program.
"They left here more excited than they were when I enrolled them in the program, just seeing there is a lot of opportunity out there for them," Beltran said.
