Students and faculty at American Career College-Long Beach donated more than 30 units during a Red Cross blood drive this June.
Hot, dry weather
Blood and platelet donations decline during the summer months. Schedule an appointment for the weeks and months ahead – particularly the challenging months of July and August.

"We collected 35 total units which will save up to 105 lives," Amy Papageorges, a senior account manager with American Red Cross, said. "It was great working with you, the students, and faculty. I hope it was a good experience for you all as well."
Papageorges also said she was already looking forward to the next drive in about six months.
ACC-Long Beach Student Resource Center manager Chandra Deveroux said no date has been set yet, but believed it would probably happen right before the holiday break in December.
American Red Cross is the largest single supplier of blood and blood products in the United States, collecting and processing approximately 40 percent of the blood supply and distributing it to about 2,600 hospitals and transfusion centers nationwide.
