At ACC-Ontario's recent Career Fair, we spoke with Vallarie Rose, District Pharmacy Resource for CVS Health, about what traits their company is looking for in pharmacy technicians.
"We like to see people that care about their communities and have a genuine care they will show towards our patients because we can teach them to be pharmacy technicians but we can't teach them to care for people."
Rose, who recruits pharmacy technicians for her district pharmacies, also shared that communication and leadership are two other traits that help individuals stand out.
"We're looking for good communication skills that's very important in the pharmacy industry
especially the more technical it gets with insurance companies it's very important they're able to communicate well," Rose said. "We're looking for people who want to grow and move up in our company."
Additionally, Rose shared that a graduate of ACC-Ontario's Pharmacy Technician program is now in a leadership position in CVS Health.
"I have an ACC grad who is amazing. She's now an inventory specialist after only a couple of years," Rose said. "She's a great example of what a new ACC grad can aspire to be."
