‘ACC Ready’ Cohort Attends California Physical Therapy Association Conference

October 20, 2015

American Career College’s second Physical Therapist Assistant cohort were “ACC Ready” while attending the annual California Physical Therapy Association conference in September.

“The students showed their professionalism and professional advocacy by supporting the profession as student APTA members and by spending their weekend with faculty, learning the latest information in evidence-based physical therapy practice,” Physical Therapist Assistant Program Director Jennifer Whitney said.

This year's conference — held at the Pasadena Convention Center — featured two days of educational programming packed with more than 25 sessions, panels and roundtable discussions on the latest physical therapy best practices and tools taught by leading industry experts. The tracks covered some of the hottest topics in physical therapy right now including pain management, biomechanics of the spine, motor learning, mirroring, motor imagery, exercise and dosing, as well as six courses designed to meet the ethics, law and regulation requirements for licensure renewal.

Attendees had the option of attending various programming tracks in research and evidence-based best practice for various physical therapy settings and conditions. The conference is the premier event for the state physical therapy community to update on the latest research in practice and connect with therapists from across California.

The CPTA is the world’s third-largest professional organization for physical therapists and physical therapist assistants, preceded by the American Physical Therapy Association and the World Confederation of Physical Therapy.
