The ACC Long Beach campus was constructed in the 1930s and was known to locals as the Arts Building. It is located in the heart of Downtown Long Beach, which is sprinkled with unique restaurants and next to popular attractions, such as the Pike Mall, the Aquarium of the Pacific, and the Queen Mary.
In its new capacity, the 18,879 square foot building contains classrooms, labs, and administrative areas. The idea behind this space is to embrace the historical culture of Long Beach, keeping the Art Deco architecture intact.
The Long Beach campus is designed for efficiency. The first floor houses the reception, Admissions, Financial Aid, the Optical Dispensing lab, the Dental Assisting lab, and the student break room. The lower level will house the Student Resource Center, which includes the entrance testing room, the library, Student Services, the Registrar, and the Business Office. Also on this level will be the Career Services office, faculty offices, faculty break room, all lecture classrooms, the Medical Billing and Coding lab, and the Medical Assistant labs.
In these all-new classrooms and labs, there will be modern and relevant equipment, such as SMART technologies meant to support faculty instruction and student interaction. There will be several computers in the library to support individual study and a meeting room for faculty/student meetings or group study. The warm ACC color scheme will be seen throughout the building, inviting new students in and making current students feel at home.
