1st ACC Alumni Event

Our 1st ACC Anaheim Alumni Event turned out to be a HUGE success! A big “thank you” to all of our alumni, employers and staff for your participation!

The reviews are in:

Rita Totten - “I enjoyed meeting the many employers who stopped in tonight—always nice to hear the employers bragging about our students!  Our alumni were also very happy to be here!”

Kim McGregor - “Yesterday’s Alumni Event was a great success!! Our preliminary numbers indicate, we had 76 employers, 58 graduates, and a steady stream of visitors through the campus during the day and evening event.  During the day alone, the massage therapy department provided 153 massages and we served 500 hot dogs!!”

Stacy Sato - “Every department jumped in to make our 1st ACC Alumni event simply SPECTACULAR and I can’t thank you all enough! There were many exciting stories, but one of the highlights include UnitedHealth Group who announced upon arrival that they are looking to hire 80 PT grads!  In addition, HealthCare Partners and Alta Med conducted impromptu interviews for our MA grads!”

Gohar Abrahamian - Last night, we experienced an outstanding event,  LA’s first Alumni Mixer!  It was great to see Career Services working as a team, with a sincere interest in being there to be a part of it all.  Thank you, everyone, for making the first Alumni Event a success!”

Tatiana Thoene - “It was an incredible event. Let me share a nice surprise I’ve got this evening. One of our graduates, John Vash, stopped by today. He was my student almost 10 years ago. And he came in to express gratitude for the difference ACC made in his life. He said that he never expected his life, as Pharmacy Technician to be so fulfilling. He feels he became a part of the unique family. He said for the last 10 years he never was unemployed, he was able to work in several different pharmacy settings and some research labs. No matter where he goes, he is recognized as graduate from ACC which is known for high quality of students. He was exuberant with pride and joy for the time he spent here, and how ACC helped him to create a whole new life for himself and his family.”

Julie Wang - “What a phenomenal idea to help ACC students success has taken us to the next level.  It gave my team (Financial Literacy Department) another great opportunity to meet with graduates and guide them toward repaying back their loans and financial responsibilities.

I can only express through what my feelings were last night: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change ACC students toward their success” and “Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision – HELPING OUR STUDENTS TO SUCCEED.”

Melissa Pouey: One Person, Making a Change and Making a Difference

In her spare time, Melissa Pouey, Assistant Director of Admissions at American Career College’s Orange County campus, volunteers as an advocate for special needs children, helping family and friends structure learning paths that enable their children to succeed.

“It’s so inspiring to help a child who is trying their hardest to learn and overcome obstacles,” says Melissa, whose own daughter struggled with severe learning disabilities growing up and now teaches autistic children. “I believe that if you give people the tools and the support and the encouragement they need, everyone can succeed.”

Melissa says she enjoys her job at ACC so much because the college’s philosophy toward students mirrors her own. “I believe that ‘can’t’ is not a word, and ACC shares that philosophy through its outstanding hands-on approach to learning, combined with a wonderful culture of caring and support for our students, who are working so hard in many cases to reinvent themselves and improve their lives.”
